"Rocky" Yannone, a recognized leader in insurance claims investigation and fraud detection and a pioneer of the New York State Insurance Department's Fraud Bureau in the early 1980s. Most of our investigators are former law enforcement officers, detectives, insurance company SIU investigators or claims adjusters, and all have extensive experience investigating claims. We can handle your normal multi-line claim investigations, as well as the investigation of suspicious and fraudulent claims. Certified SIU is one of the few private investigation agencies that specialize in SIU work for the insurance industry. We are licensed, bonded, insured and can enhance your existing SIU Department or serve as a cost- effective alternative. In effect, we are your SIU Department without the attendant costs of start-up, equipment and personnel. When necessary, we will formulate and submit to the New York State Department of Insurance a cost-effective anti-fraud program for your company. Certified SIU Services specializes in the investigation of insurance fraud in the New York metropolitan region. We work with insurance companies licensed to do business in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, as well as those with claims in those states. We handle your normal claims investigation with the ability and confidence to identify those claims which are suspicious and merit investigation. When appropriate, we can also conduct a full-scale investigation to identify those persons who have committed frauds and refer same for prosecution.
The vast majority of Certified SIU clients are insurance companies, particularly SIU departments, adjusters and claims representatives. We also conduct investigations for insurance defense attorneys, the self-insured and employers. Most of our clients come back again and again, once they realize the efficacy, success and often, substantial cost savings, that result from our investigations.

A.J. "ROCKY" YANNONE Rocky Yannone, founder, president and investigations manager of Certified SIU Services, Inc., is recognized as a leader in identifying and prosecuting insurance fraud. Police Investigation Experience He began his career more than 40 years ago as a police officer with the New York City Police Department, for which his initial assignment after graduation from the Police Academy was to a midtown Manhattan police precinct. After three years on foot and radio motor patrol, he was selected for undercover assignment to the Vice/Gambling and Organized Crime investigation units. He subsequently was promoted to Detective and was assigned to a local detective squad investigating burglaries, larceny, robberies and assault cases, among others. Rocky next moved to a Robbery Unit special squad, where he was commended for his exceptional work. His final assignment was to the Brooklyn South 11th Homicide Squad, where he remained until his retirement from the Police Force. Insurance Fraud Investigations In 1981, the New York State Department of Insurance established a Frauds Bureau. Rocky was selected as one of the first 10 investigators in this elite investigative unit, whose charter was to investigate insurance fraud, a previously untouched and seldom prosecuted area. During his 12 years with the Insurance Frauds Bureau, he was responsible for 80 percent of all major fraud investigations undertaken by the N.Y. State Insurance Department in the New York metropolitan area. He worked extensively with the State Attorney General and was one of the only investigators assigned his own prosecutor. One of the many highlights of Rocky's career was a major insurance investigation commenced in 1981. Upon its completion four years later, this investigation uncovered more than $95 million in automobile insurance fraud and identified a variety of cases involving numerous dishonest insureds/claimants, brokers, adjustors, appraisers and auto body shops. The scope of this investigation covered New York City, Nassau and Suffolk counties. Through Rocky's expertise, organized automobile insurance fraud rings were identified and later indicted, prosecuted and convicted by the N.Y. State Attorney General's office. As a result of his work with the N.Y. State Insurance Frauds Bureau, Rocky earned letters of commendation from three successive Superintendents of the State Insurance Department and the Attorney General of New York State. He also has investigated and successfully prosecuted a wide variety of insurance fraud cases with many jurisdictions in the New York City metropolitan and surrounding areas. Upon leaving the Frauds Bureau, Rocky accepted a position as an SIU investigator with a major insurance company in the N.Y. area. Approximately two years later, he established Certified SIU Services, Inc. to provide insurance companies nationwide with the same level of fraud investigative service he pioneered with New York State. |
